This week has been phantasmagorical. First of all I found out that is actually a word. But most importantly we have had some awesome successes and miracles.
First miracle (these aren't in any kind of chronological order just in what I think of first). Elder Thomas, my first born son AKA my first trainee is now a District leader in our zone so I get to work with him quite frequently which is sweet. The other day we dropped off a paper for him. I asked him how his day was going and he said it was kind of a bummer. They had been tracting all day and hadn't found anybody. We wanted to try and pick up his spirits so we felt impressed to tell him to knock a certain door. 5 minutes later we got a text that he said that person at the door was now a new investigator! It was pretty cool.
We made a little headway with Whitney this week. For some reason she still doesn't want to be baptized. It's quite annoying honestly. She has told us flat out that she knows the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet but she doesn't want to be baptized. I know there is probably something much deeper than what we can see that is where the real issue is. It probably has something to do with the fact that she doesn't want to tell her family and boyfriend. But she is coming to all the activities and she still wants to meet with us so we will keep helping her receive the gospel.
Miracle number 2. We were having our weekly planning session and we did something that we normally don't do. We picked out the time and places we would go tracting. We had a big list of apartments that we have been choosing from but we ran out of apartments and we only had one more place to pick. So we looked at the map.....the spirit whispered in our ears moss street. I had no idea if there would even be young single adults at that street. Well the appointed day came to tract that street. We didn't have very much time. We said we will tract til we find a new investigator. Well it just so happened there was an apartment complex at moss st that was full of young single adults. No joke the very first door we knock on is a girl named Sophia who knows lots of Mormons. We set up a return appointment. Few days later came the day for the appointment. We sat down and had planned to teach the restoration. But then she pulled out her notebook and opened to a list of questions that she had about what she read. One of these questions was how do you get eternal salvation? We wound up teaching her about the doctrine of Christ; faith, repentance, baptism, Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. She took notes on the whole thing. We have another appointment and I can't wait.
We are still working with Tia and she is doing very well. She is set to be baptized on Mar 25th. Dustin is also doing great but his date for Mar 18th will probably need to be set back another week or so.
Miracle number 3. On Saturday night we tried to think of everyone we could invite to church. Our thoughts turned to a girl named Amy who we had tracted into a couple weeks back. We texted her an invitation and she responded I am interested. So we walked with her to church. And we got some members to sit next to her and she loved it. Man when an investigator goes to church....ah man there is nothing that leads more to baptism than going to church. You know what else is really satisfying? When your recent convert passes you the sacrament. Jonathon passed me the sacrament the other day and I was so proud of him.
There is a few more amazing miracles but again as usual I just don't have time. And you probably don't have time to read a really long email either. Please continue to be awesome!
