HEY! What a week! So being in a university ward during the holidays is a pretty interesting thing. There are a lot of people that went home for the holidays. That means members, less actives, investigators, the whole lot. We wrote a list of people that we will have to visit at the start of the new term and so far we have 20 people. But the crazy thing is that we are still teaching a good amount of people. So let me start with the good news that is Carl.
So Carl is this guy who came to church last week. We set up an appoinment with him and we taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At the end we invited him to be baptized and he excepted. So he will be baptized on January 7th! He is a really cool guy who has been through a lot. He told us a bunch of stories about some crazy things he's seen and he's only 19 years old. We are really excited to see him go down.
The next amazing news is Jonathon. So we have been teaching Jonathon for a long time. He comes to church, FHE, activities, everything. He's just not baptized and the reason why is because he wants to be baptized by his father who lives in Alaska. he doesn't have the money to make the trip. So this week we met with him and had a really spiritual lesson and at the end of the lesson we invited him to be baptized again and he said yes I just want my dad to do it. Then we did something crazy. We read to him Alma 34:33 where it says you should not procrastinate the day of your repentance. Then I looked at him and I could see the wheels turning in him. We invited him to pray about being baptized on January 1st. He agreed. At church yesterday we asked him how his prayer went. He said, "I say we go for it." He said he would talk to his dad and tell him to prepare for the day when they will be sealed together as a family in the temple one year later. I am so happy!!!! Two baptisms already scheduled in January. WOOT
This has been a great Christmas season so far. Everybody's hearts seems to be a little bit softer with this season. Our teaching pool has grown in size and I feel the Lord reaching out to bless the hearts of these people. Thank you so much for all the presents. We have very many and a special thanks goes out to the person who sent me a Christmas tree. It was crazy cuz me and elder Hackett last week said, Hey we need to get a christmas tree and then like an hour later we receive a call from the mission office saying you have a live christmas tree in the mail. Haha! It is a beautiful christmas tree. See picture for details.
