Serena and Robbie got baptized!!! It was great. The best day of my
life....again. Every baptism is a new best day of my life. Just such
an incredible change. For someone to not even be able to go to the
store to buy groceries because of anxiety, to now, a enthusiastic,
outgoing person. It has been a learning experience for me. Bill came
to the baptism and nonchalantly told a ward member that he was
thinking about joining too. It would be a perfect happily ever after
story! He came to church yesterday in support of his wife's
confirmation. He's cool.
Now to the story of Jan and the Hungerfords. Brother Hungerford is our
ward mission leader. I'm scared of him. But in a good way. He always
tells us how we need to be better. At first I was a little offended. I
was like hey I know how to do my job. But now I just eat up any advice
he gives us. He's the only ward mission leader I have had that does
his job the way it is meant to be done. So anyways, long before I got
here Brother Hungerford invited a family friend to come and hear him
give a talk in Sacrament meeting. She agreed. Her name was Jan. Jan
came to the meeting and bawled her eyes out the whole time. She
actually had to leave early because it was so overwhelming. It must
have been in a good way though because the next week she came again.
and again, and again. In fact she hasn't missed a Sunday yet. She's
come approximately 10 times. Wow! So we obviously wanted to meet with
her immediatly but this was one of those times when Brother Hungerford
steped in and said "we'll invite her." So we backed off. She was
invited to meet with the missionaries but she declined until she felt
more "ready." Well last week she decided she was ready. So we met with
her for the first time. It was great she has a great testimony of the
gospel. And so we are jsut going to fill in the blanks and she will
most likely be baptized soon enough. We are very excited. The thing
that is kinda holding her back right now is that her husband may or
may not be interested. She hasn't really asked him, but then again he
hasn't ever asked her....so we want to try to teach the whole family.
Tonight we are teaching Jan and her two kids. It will be great.
We also had dinner at the Bakers this week and they brought a friend
over too. We invited her to take the lessons and she agreed. Her name
is Thelma. She is about 18. We just tuaght her for the first time
yesterday and that went great.
So we had transfer calls this week. Me and Elder Charleson are staying
together. We were very happy about that. Me especially cuz I don't
really know the area all that well yet. But yeah we are looking
forward to another great 6 weeks. Love you all. Have a great week.
