Really good week this week. So I would say the biggest news of the week is Whitney. We have been working with Whitney for a few months now and she is doing awesome. We have taught her all the lessons and she fully accepts them and she knows the church is true. We have also repeatedly invited her to be baptized and she has repeatedly said no. She wants to read the entire standard works or something. Well needless to say we invited her to be baptized again this week. We started by saying, "ya know Whitney we have taught you all the lessons and you accept them. You have passed the class. There is only one thing left to do...." Then she got that look on her face just like every other time we have brought up baptism. She said, "let me guess you are holding a baptismal service on May 13th will you prepare yourself to be baptized on that day?.....No I won't." We then talked about why she didn't want to be baptized which were all reasons that don't really make since. Then she said, "you guys just need to have faith in me." So we said, "alright Whitney we have faith in you. But honestly there is no need for us to continue to meet with you unless you are preparing for baptism." Anyways that's the beginning of the story so we benched Whitney. Then later this week we invited her to help us with a teaching appointment for a less active. They bonded immediately. And she took her to church this Sunday. The Bishop called her into his office and invited us in as well. Bishop had been trying to get this less active girl to come for a long time and so he wanted to find out how this was done. Well after talking to her for a while he decided that Whitney should be called as a Ward Missionary. I was about to tell the Bishop that she wasn't a member yet but he said I know you aren't a member yet but I think it would be good. So he set her apart as a ward missionary. So we will be taking her with us to a lot of appointments. It's really exciting.
Then some other big news this week was with Melissa she is friends with Amy who just got baptized. So this week Melissa sent us a 6 page hand written letter which was basically an outline of how to baptize Melissa. This was quite helpful :) We addressed her questions in the next lesson. Then we read D&C 121 just the first part and when it got to the verse about God's answer to Joseph Smith's prayer Elder Peterson read, My Daughter peace be unto your soul for thine afflictions shall be but a small moment....She was bawling the whole time. We said how do you feel. Peaceful. That is the spirit! Will you be baptized May 13th? Yes! It was awesome. There are two main concerns right now though. 1st she works on Sundays and can't come to church. 2nd She wants her dad to baptize her but he is inactive. I pray that these concerns may be resolved before the 13th.
We had an amazing day at church yesterday. A less-active named Hope brought her boyfriend to church and when we asked him if he wanted to have lessons from us he said YES! Amy also brought another friend Amanda to church for her confirmation. She's an awesome missionary already. We asked her if she wanted to meet with us and she said sure. So we met later that night. She had a few concerns but she is willing to read from the Book of Mormon. That's a good sign.
We had the confirmation of Amy and Anthony at church. I confirmed Anthony and Elder Peterson confirmed Amy. It was a really good experience.
