Well last Monday right as we were about to start winding down we got a call from President Young and he told us to come to the mission home immediately. So we did. We picked up Elder Horton as the newest addition to our companionship there were three of us. We were told that he would be with us for just a couple days. So we dragged him along with us. It turned out being a little bit longer than just a couple days. Well he's still here right next to me. But we just received notice that he will now go to Corvallis tomorrow. It's been a fun week with Elder Horton and we're going to miss him.
So I briefly mentioned last week that this girl named Hope brought her boyfriend to church well we met with him on Tuesday and it went great! His name is Jake. We taught him about the plan of Salvation and we set a date with him to be baptized on May 6th and he accepted! He just graciously accepts everything we teach him. We have nearly taught him everything so far. He came to church again last week and he is very excited for his baptism. YAY!
So in our YSA ward everyone is a college student and as such....we don't get invited to dinner very much because they are all poor. Hey we don't blame them at all in fact we have decided we don't really like going to dinner that much anyways! Sometimes it is just a waste of time. Dinner is only supposed to be one hour and sometimes it takes a lot longer. For example we had dinner yesterday in Junction City which is 30 min away from where we do our normal proselyting. So it took 30 min there 1 hour for dinner and 30 min back! That's a waste of an hour in the Lord's vineyard. Anyways we do like having dinner though because then it gives a break from our mediocre cooking :) Well that was a huge side note; now back to the reason I told you about this. We happened to have someone invite us to dinner this last week named Enrique. We felt really bad because we had just gotten out of an appointment with Jake and we were late. So we drove to the place we were going to meet. Well when we finally got there we found that Enrique had invited his brother Thomas who is a non-member. We talked to Thomas over sushi (man that was really good sushi). Well Thomas had just gotten out of living a really crazy life and had just barely decided that he needed more. So he turned to his brother and he told him about the gospel. He is another one of those guys who is just prepared. We will probably set a date with him this week. I'm so excited!
We had an exchange with my son (trainee) Elder Thompson and his companion Elder Tandy-Trammel. I went with Thompson the day started out really bad. We were about to leave to go to work and we locked the door and shut it. It was only then that we realized that just on the other side of that door we just locked was our keys lying on the desk. Yeah we had to climb in the window. Then Thompson wanted to go to a funeral for this guy who just died in his ward so we exchanged back for an hour. Well Elder Peterson accidentally kept the phone in his pocket so we had both our phone and their phone and they had no way of getting a hold of us. Well that took some time to get that all figured out. But eventually we got started on the exchange again. So the night before we had set a goal of 3 new investigators and then when we went tracting we set the goal to give away all the material in our hands (which was a 3 Book of Mormons and a bunch of pamphlets). So we set out. We were getting nothing. Nobody was interested. We were beating door after door and they kept turning us down. We found one person out of nowhere which was cool. But then we went right back to getting nothing. At the end of the day we were really tired and we still hadn't found our last 2 new investigators and still had 2 Book of Mormons. I was a little discouraged. We told ourselves we'll just knock one more door. Well at this last door a guy named Dave and Tyler opened the door and we taught them about the Book of Mormon and gave them both copies. The Lord had provided a way for us to achieve our goals. Woot!
One last crazy thing! Melissa went to church! YEAH! She has been telling us for weeks that she couldn't make it because of work. We invited her again this week and she said no. But then she showed up with Amy it was awesome!
Alright I gotta go love you guys
Love Elder Johnson
